- Where to
Park Overnight. It is probably going to take you a bit of time adjusting to
sleeping in your vehicle but you will eventually get a nightly routine that you
will follow. If you are parking in a residential area make sure to park and get
to sleep as quickly as possible so that you will not draw any unwanted
attention to you and your vehicle.
- Change
Locations Frequently. Try not to park in the same spot move your parking spot
as you don't want people to notice you as they could make complaints about you
parking there or worse they could try and confront you themselves.
- Stay
Away from Areas that have High Crime Rate. Avoid parking in areas that are
known to have high crime rates if you can. By parking in areas of high crime
rate you are just increasing your chances of being confronted with criminal
activities such as someone trying to break into your car while you are sleeping
in it.
- Look for
Local Campgrounds. Check to see if the area you are in has a campground with
low fees. If you can find a local campground this will also give you access to
showers and toilets and picnic tables to have your meals at, trails to go for
walks on to get out of your car and out into the fresh air.

Areas to Consider Parking. Areas such as highway rest stops, car pools, and truck
stops are good spots to park overnight. Many truck stops will offer paid
showers and convenience stores.

allow overnight parking of RV's in their parking lots. The security guards may
allow you to stay there in your car for at least one night.

their parking lot at night. Perhaps try approaching mechanic shop and point out
to them that you can keep an eye on their customers cars making sure that no
one tries to break into them.
- Local
Churches & Community Centres. Try getting permission from a local church or
community centre to park your car in their parking lot at night.
- Look for
Overnight Street Parking. Try and locate streets where you are allowed to park
on them overnight. Don't park your car in a spot where it is the only car on
the block find a spot where there is other cars so that you won't stand out.
- Read
Street Signs. Always make sure to read the street signs where you are parked in
case you need to be gone by a certain time due to things such as street
cleaners coming through that area.
- Local
Police. Get some help from the local police by asking them where a safe and
legal place would be for you to park for the night. They may even let you park
right outside the police station to give you that added sense of protection.
