Events such
as natural disasters can cause us to be left homeless in a blink of an eye. All
of a sudden you and your loved ones and pets could be in your vehicle and
looking for shelter. You could find it difficult to find shelter at local
hotels if you have pets as many of them will not allow your pets in the rooms.
But if you are lucky enough to have a vehicle it may have to be your temporary
home until you are able to find a new home. Staying in your vehicle will offer you
more protection than a camping tent would as you can lock it and it will be
more water proof than a tent. In this book I will share some tips and
suggestions to help you in better coping with having to live out of your

You can pretend that you are on some kind of camping
trip that is more flexible in that you are able to jump behind the wheel and
move on to the next camping spot without the hassle of taking down camp as you
would if you were camping in a tent. You may have been forced from your home at
no fault of your own but you may want to stay close to it so that you can still
attend work or perhaps school or both. It is a good idea to consider keeping a“
Grab n' Go kit” in your vehicle in case you have to leave your home in a hurry
due to some kind of natural disaster for example. It is wise to be prepared for
the worse especially when we live in a time in which natural disasters are on
the increase.

Strategic Lifestyle.
Due to uncertain employment prospects and the high cost of
homes there are those who have chosen to live in their cars as a strategic
lifestyle hoping to cut costs of living for themselves and being able to pay of
debts quicker. They choose to live a more simplified life in hopes of becoming
debt free and able to start over eventually with a clean slate. By making some
sacrifices now by living in their vehicles for a certain length of time they
can make a fresh start once they are ready to rent or buy a new home.
Living in
your vehicle will have maximum flexibility with minimal overhead allowing you
to clear your debts quicker and start anew. You can accomplish car living in
almost any vehicle. Getting creative in how to organize your vehicle to make
use of all of the space provided in it in a practical and functional manner.
The details on how you setup your vehicle to live in are very important. Taking
the time to plan how things will be organized and layed out within your vehicle
will make for a more successful stay for you while living in your car. Planning
things such as making provisions to cover your physical needs without access to
indoor facilities.

Protecting Your Privacy & Safety.
It may take you some time to adjust to
living in your vehicle as you will miss the level of safety and privacy that
your house provided for you. By being vigilant you will find that this will
serve you well. Taking simple precautions will help you in getting some much
needed sleep.

Covering Windows.
To help with giving you more privacy you should purchase a sun shade
this will also help to reduce heat gain during the hot summer months and
provide partial insulation during the winter months. These shields can also be
ordered for your doors windows of your vehicle. Tinted glass will help to offer
some privacy as well. Large department stores sell press-on window tints.
Velcro curtains are also another way to provide you with privacy. But if you
are trying to cut down on spending you may want to consider getting pieces of
cardboard and cut them into fitting your windows using tape to secure them. You
can use an eye-shade and ear-plugs to help lessen the light and noise that may
be going on outside your vehicle.
These are good to have at hand even if you are
sleeping in a quiet neighbourhood because they will still have streetlights and
other noises such as garbage trucks going by or passersby that are talking.
There even could be the sounds of sirens going off or the sounds of early
morning traffic.
