Weight Loss through Proper Nutrition
Working out
just takes about half an hour a day. Eating right on the other hand is a 24/ 7
effort. Prepare yourself for a lifestyle change, not some fad diet. Proper
nutrition is the most important factor for improving the overall health of an
individual. It is important that you understand the real facts about nutrition
as there are a lot of myths surrounding this particular topic.
The Paleo
diet is one of the key diet plans for a person who wants to lose weight via
nutritional means. It's all about going back to the basics. Eating natural
food, and not those packed with artificial additives and preservatives is the
essence of the Paleo diet. The majority of your diet should be coming from
fruit, vegetables, lean meat, healthy fats and whole grains. Eating this way is
great for your health. You will lose weight, get essential nutrients, feel
energetic and feel full!
I don’t want to get into too much detail about
the paleo diet. I just wanted to point you in the direction of a diet I
personally had great experiences with and still use in my life.
It is
essential for overweight people to lose weight in a healthy manner. This is
because that excess weight possesses several risks to their health. One of the
ways that you can lose weight is through proper eating habits. Changing eating
habits should take place SLOWLY and STEADY because the body of a person takes
time to adjust to these changes. People who have achieved the body they dreamed
of did not get so because of their genetics or good luck, but because they have
adopted a good training routine in combination with the right eating habits.
The
following are habits that can help to improve your health slowly and steady.
- Drinking enough water
It is the elixir of life. Drink fresh water
regularly throughout the day can help breathe new life into you. Aim for
drinking around eight glasses of water a day or more depending on your level of
physical activity. So no more soda for you!
However it
should be noted that drinking tea or coffee can be fine, but you should be
fully aware of the quantity consumed. You definitely should avoid adding sugar.
- Eating Breakfast
Many
studies have shown that breakfast is the single most important meal of the day.
All of these studies usually share one thing in common:
They are
paid by the food industry. This should not be seen as a big conspiracy, but it
is obvious that Kellogg’s and other similar companies have earned a lot of
money by producing and keeping up this myth. There are many independent studies
that show that it does not really matter WHEN you eat, but rather WHAT and HOW
MUCH you eat.
So if you
don’t feel hungry in the morning, don’t force yourself to eat just because your
cereal box tells you to do so. Many professional athletes don’t eat before 6
p.m. and are doing just fine.
Keep it
simple and try not to over think nutrition. Just eat when you are feeling
hungry and stop when you are not hungry anymore so you do not overeat. I had
mentioned the paleo diet earlier. A little bit of research about that should
give you plenty of advice about WHAT to eat.
If you find
yourself struggling with overeating, you might need to start counting calories.
I know this is annoying, but it might be the only way to learn about correct
portion sizes. You can use online calculators on the internet to find out your
basal metabolism. The only thing left to do is to eat a bit less than that.
